House Fire Reported in Lewisville Area | News

Two people managed to safely escape a house fire after being alerted by a dog Tuesday morning near Lewisville.

Officials said the blaze was reported at 6:23 a.m. at 7103 Styers Ferry Road.

Officials said the fire started in the attic, which did not have a fire alarm. Authorities said it was caused by an electrical problem.

Authorities said the occupants awoke to fire from a ceiling fan. A fire detector eventually went off once the flames reached the living area.

Officials said three engine companies responded. Firefighters had to reportedly open a hole in the roof.

A damage estimate was not provided, but officials said the home is uninhabitable. Officials said the occupants are seeking help from family.

Anthony Johnson owns the home and is one of the occupants who managed to escape.
